Community Support

These are comprehensive, individualised services for Tangata Whaiora and their whanau based on the principle of recovery.


Services provided in the package may include but are not limited to:

  • Connecting with Kaupapa Maori

  • Facilitating access to Cultural Support, Hapu and Iwi Services

  • Whakawhanaunga

  • Whanau Healing and Resolution

  • Accommodation

  • Facilitating Work and Education Activities

  • Facilitating Improved Social Networks and Relationships

  • Facilitating the Development of Life Skills

  • Support and Encouragement for Self-Medication and Wellness

  • Assistance with Finances

  • Providing Support and Encouragement with Personal Care and Physical Health

  • Development of Self-Advocacy Skills

  • Facilitating Access to Key Government and Community Social Agencies e.g Housing New Zealand, Work and Income, Employment and Recreation Services

  • Supporting the Clinical Service Role in Managing Mental Health and Treatment Needs

Access to Service

  • Referrals to the Support Hours Team are made through the clinical services attached to WDHB

  • Self-referrals or Whanau referrals can also be made
