
Ngā Parirau
Community Support Team
Ngā Parirau, the "wings" are a mobile community support team providing comprehensive individualised services for Tāngata Whaiora and their whānau based on the principle of recovery. These services are delivered by mental health professionals in the community and/or in the home setting. Services provided may include but are not limited to:

connection, through a kaimahi, to mātauranga Māori and tikanga Māori.

whānau counselling;
-
accommodation, support and advocacy;

facilitating to further education and work opportunities;

improving relationships and social network building, including with whānau, hapū, iwi and hāpori
-
facilitating the development of life skills;
-
support and encouragement toward appropriate self-medication and wellness;
-
assistance with finances;
-
providing support, education and encouragement with personal care, hygiene and good physical health;
-
development of self-advocacy skills
-
facilitating access to key government and community social agencies e.g Housing New Zealand, Work and Income, and employment and recreational services

supporting the clinical service role in managing mental health and treatment needs; and
-
support and guidance through Covid-19 lock down and levels.
